07 May Cancer Screening
If your household is exempt from paying income tax, you can undergo screening for stomach, colon, lungs, cervix, endometrium and breast free of charge. Please submit the tax exemption certificate for all members of your family when you apply. You can receive certificate at your local ward office or Sapporo City Tax Office free of charge. Please inform them of the reason for why you request the form (i.e. for cancer screening in Sapporo City).
If your household does not fall under the above category, you can contact Sapporo City Contact Center for costs.
-If you are 40 years old, you can receive a blood test to know about your stomach cancer risk once in your 40’s. If you are 42, 44, 46 or 48 years old, you may receive this blood test. http://www.city.sapporo.jp/hokenjo/iganrisukuhantei.html (in Japanese)
-If you are 50 years or older, you can undergo screening for stomach cancer every two years when your age is even numbered(50, 52, 54, 56, 58). You can choose the method, either barium swallow or upper endoscopy.
-If you are 40 years or older,
you can have a yearly screening for colon and lung cancer.
-If you are 40 years or older,
you can undergo breast cancer screening every two years when your age is even numbered.
-If you are 20 years or older,
you can undergo screening for cervical and endometrial cancer every two years when your age is even numbered.
