There are kinds of well-baby check-ups.
Home visit and check-ups by midwives
New mothers may feel anxious because they are not used to life at home with their new baby
Please submit the yellow postcard in your boshi-techo (maternal and child health handbook) to the ward office (kuyakusho) or health center.
A public health nurse or midwife will visit your home before your baby is aged 4 months. During the visits she will weigh the baby and listen to any worries or concerns you may have.
There is usually only one visit, but follow-up visits can be arranged if you need more consultation time or advice. Please let your local health center know your wishes.
