In Sapporo, BCG vaccination is available as a standard vaccination from around 5 months of age. The city government designates the place for this kind of mass vaccination of infants. Therefore, there are generally few opportunities to receive this vaccine later, and it is not usually provided at hospitals.
However, for children who have come to Japan from abroad and have not yet received the BCG vaccination, it may still be available under certain conditions.
If the child is over one year old, a tuberculin skin test is required prior to vaccination. BCG will not be given if the test result is positive. The vaccination is available at Sapporo City General Hospital. For children younger than one year old, BCG vaccination is not provided at this hospital.
