How to find a hospital

Has finding the right hospital or clinic in Sapporo left you at a loss?

Here are some services that might help you.

Also known as the “the Kyukyu Anshin Center in Sapporo” (救急安心センター札幌).

Call #7119 (phone number 011-272-7119). After the operator takes your call, they will connect you to a nurse for consultation. They will then provide the name, address and phone number of the hospital suitable for your emergency. However, they will not call the hospital to make inquiries or appointments for you. The service is available in multiple languages (see here).

  • If it is difficult to call the hospital and make an appointment in Japanese by yourself, you can solve the problem by calling Sapporo Medical Communication Hotline first, at 011-211-2121.
      1. An operator will take your call and ask about your health concerns and the hospital you wish to visit.
      2. The operator is not medically trained, so they will call the Emergency Medical Consultation Center to have a three-way call with the nurse in order to find the best possible hospital for you (they will give you a few options).
      3. The operator will call the hospital and make an appointment for you while you are on the phone.

This service is also available when you already know the name of the hospital/clinic you wish to visit (in that case, the three-way call with the Emergency Medical Consultation Center will be skipped).

If you are living in Sapporo  and wish to use the SEMI interpreter service at the hospital/clinic, let the operator know.
